Feels like home
Our school is modeled after a home with real furniture, warm tones and inviting communal spaces. Our space is dedicated to creating a home away from home for our families.
Music Room
We have dedicated our gross motor space to be our music room. Children are encouraged to play on our guitars, percussion instruments and more! Most importantly, they are encouraged to use their entire bodies to “rock out”!
Our Art studio
We’ve incorporated a fully equipped art studio with natural materials and high end art tools. Our parents and children are invited to get creative!
Our Garden
Part of our magical outdoor space includes a children’s garden managed and cared for by our preschoolers. Our Pre-K class takes charge for our garden and actively teaches the younger children how to care for the plants, vegetables and fruits housed within.
Magical infant space
Our infant space is curated by our atelierista, an expert in early childhood education, specializing in creating learning environments for very young children. Our babies are cared for by our expert educators, who utilize our beautiful environment to enhance the learning experience.
Across from the park.
We know how important gross motor play and natural light is to our children. Our teachers take the children to the park, right across the street, every day weather permitting!
Art Studio
Our art studio is designed to engage and inspire. With tons of natural light, our children are encouraged to use our professional art materials to get creative in this space curated to spark curiosity and exploration.
Expansive children’s library
Our library spans two floors and includes a wide array of children’s books as well as cozy areas for parents, children and teachers to soak up the joys of children’s literature.
Music
Children are introduced to sounds and music (show photo). They explore sound created by a variety of materials ranging from household items to authentic musical instruments. We incorporate music into the school experience to create a shared bond between children, parents, teachers and peers. In addition, we are mindful of the strong connection between music …
Movement
Children are taught the body awareness and movements required for the development of strong muscles, and the separation movements required for dance and sports. They become aware of how to alternate hands and feet intentionally. They learn how their wrists work differently from their fingers. They explore how to make large and small movements to …
Dramatic play
Children explore story-telling in all forms. They acquire skills necessary to navigate the social world by assuming pretend roles and acting out stories. Teachers provide thoughtfully chosen, open ended materials to help stimulate childrens’ imaginations. Children use these materials in novel ways as props to support their roles and stories. They develop social skills such …
Performing Arts
Each and every day, our classrooms include moments for song, movement and dramatic play – all building blocks for the performing arts.

Service and empathy
Our children meaningfully contribute to our efforts to make the world a better place. They use their newfound cognitive and academic skills to pack goods and write cards to those in need of items and care at various times throughout the year.
Kindergarten readiness
Our Pre-K students have been moving on to the finest private and public schools in NYC for over 20 years. They leave us confident and well-rounded in their wide range of preparatory skills including physical, social, emotional and academic.
Research and observation
While these terms are technically skills that relate to the sciences, our children use them in all areas of classroom life to explore the difference between fact and opinion by honing in on the key skill of objective observation and, when relevant, the recording of data. Children are introduced to technology as a research tool …
Arts
Children are provided with more complex art mediums and will often work on the same piece over time, deepening the experience and thought process behind the work. They are also strengthening their motor and graphomotor muscles through the use of smaller and more delicate tools.
Language
Children are provided with print-rich learning experiences throughout the classroom and throughout the day. They are also thoughtfully introduced to expanding vocabulary as teachers facilitate discussions.
Pre-academic skills
Children are given the opportunity to develop pre-literacy, pre-math and scientific skills through our catered approach to individualized learning. Children develop at their own pace and teachers take great care to provide them with successful pre-academic experiences.
Socialization
3-year-olds naturally seek out friendships. Teachers provide children with the opportunities to develop the skills required to collaborate, empathize and work productively with one another.
Art
Children learn how to use real tools to make their vision come to life. They are intentionally given the opportunity to work on group art projects where they need to collaborate as well as on individual work where they master independence.
Language
Children’s language capabilities continue to be fostered through rich environmental print as well as spoken and expanding language. Children begin to take an interest in one another and are given language to support this new stage of development.
Self Confidence
Children will naturally push boundaries at the age of 2. Teachers understand that this is an important part of self-discovery and are sure to imbue the children with confidence as they learn about themselves and the world around them.
Independence
At this age children naturally want to take agency over their lives. We foster this development by providing children with ample opportunities to make self-directed choices throughout the day.
Joy
Children learn that school is a fun place to be. Our thoughtful and gentle separation process paired with exciting school experiences let children feel safe and happy at school.
Language
Children expand their language skills through the thoughtful integration of important vocabulary words. They are intentionally presented with experiences that help them develop a rudimentary foundation of grammatical structure and pronouns.
Socialization
Children are supported and challenged to begin noticing one another and engage with one another through materials and play. They are given toys and materials with which to take turns and begin forming relationships.
Arts
Children are given the opportunity to deepen their arts expression through the repeated exposure of interesting art mediums and tools. They begin the creative process and begin understanding how much they can do.

Success in all Domains of Life
Adults who master “soft skills” of listening, empathy, and connecting to others, as well as independence and grit, are more likely to succeed both professionally and personally.
Inspirational Environment
The environment is thought of as the third teacher. Our school environments are beautifully designed to promote a sense of joy, magic, and well-being and to inspire curiosity, wonder, and passion for learning.
Lifelong Learning
Children learn in a physical and emotional environment that is open-ended and lovingly planned to be joyful, magical, and satisfying to them. This imbues them with a deep love of learning. Since their first experiences with knowledge acquisition are so wholesome and positive, children develop a lifelong thirst and passion for knowledge and learning.
Team Work
Children are encouraged to work collaboratively with their peers to pursue goals and answers to their queries. Reggio teachers create opportunities throughout the day for children to practice communication and active listening.
Creativity
Through our open-ended approach to education, children make their own choices and forge their own paths. They acquire the skills necessary to become independent thinkers and creative problem solvers.
Self Confidence
When adults believe and trust in children, children learn to trust themselves. Reggio teachers create a safe environment for children to take risks and learn from mistakes, build confidence in their abilities, and develop the grit and determination required for success.
Language development
Infants are continually engaged throughout the day. Our approach values and draws on the connections between language development, cognition, socialization and early literacy.
Respectful Care
Our teachers are trained to see infants as individuals. They take the time to get to know each infant with their individual preferences. Teachers can be seen talking with babies throughout diaper changes and describing their experiences throughout the day.
Music
Music takes on many forms at POTA. Our infants can be seen banging on household objects, such as pots and pans, as well as on authentic instruments like guitars, tambourines, and drums. Our children sing and move to the music on a daily basis, making the connection between themselves and sounds in their environment.
Physical development
As infants learn about themselves and the world around them, they are intentionally presented with manipulatives that help them develop the fine motor and graphomotor muscles required for art and writing. Infants are presented with ample opportunities to develop the core strength and gross motor muscle groups required for proper development.
Fine Arts
Infants are full of creative potential! Their imaginations are nurtured with opportunities to explore safe and developmentally appropriate art materials, where they first experience color, form, hue, line and shape.
