NYC Preschool of the Arts is looking for qualified lead teachers for each of our locations. Please visit www.nycpreschool.org for more information on the locations. Across locations we serve children 6 months through 5 years old. Each center implements an emergent, play based curriculum inspired by Reggio Emilia. The school also actively supports a Jewish curriculum with a focus on the morals and values of the Jewish faith. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of child development and early childhood education practices to be considered.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Develop an engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the core values of Preschool of the Arts, the children’s interests, and the children’s developmental level.
- Provide consistent, sensitive, and responsive care.
- Maintain documentation of children’s growth through anecdotal records and observations.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to create an optimal learning environment for children.
- Establish and maintain relationships with parents through daily communication and conferences.
- Attend center-wide staff meetings and engage in professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and either maintain certification in early childhood education or be in the process of receiving certification.
- Applicants may also have a BA in early childhood education with 5 years of experience in a licensed early childhood setting.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to lift 45 pounds and maintain an active schedule.
